One of Kedah’s greatest lure is Langkawi Island which comprises a group of 99 tropical islands lying off the north-western coast of Peninsular Malaysia, about 30 km from the mainland. The main island is popularly known as Langkawi Island. The islands are blessed with an intriguing heritage of fabulous myths and legends of ogres and gigantic birds, warriors and fairy princesses, battles and romance.   • Mahsuri Mausoleum This is the spot where a famous legendary, was buried. The island is steeped in legend and there are many fascinating stories about this island.


  • Underwater World Langkawi Underwater World Langkawi is one of the largest aquariums in Asia. Visitors can view more than 5,000 kinds of marine life in over 100 tanks and walk through a 15 metres long tunnel.


  • Telaga Tujuh (Seven Wells) The wells are named after Seven Wells because this freshwater stream cascades about 100 metre down a hillside through seven pools and offers a refreshing escape for a day.


  • Langkawi Crocodile Farm The Langkawi Crocodile Farm has more than 1,000 crocodiles of various species. The daily spectacular show offers visitors a wonderful experience.


  • Air Hangat Village Air Hangat Village is a cultural entertainment complex built around the Telaga Ayer hot spring. The day long cultural activities for visitors will be handicraft making, planting padi, traditional games, traditional dances, etc.


  • Malaysia Book Village Based on the International Book Village concept, the 19th book village was created in Malaysia and the first in Asia. The collection of books ranges from literature to religion which is separated in six different kampung styled Malay house.


  • Galeria Perdana Houses an impressive collection of over 2,500 state gifts and awards presented to the 4th Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and his wife. The exhibits include fine crystal ware, leather, silver, copper, pewter, ceramics, Islamic art and craft, textiles, weapons, etc.


  • Dataran Lang (Eagle Square) Eagle Square has a magnificent 18 metre eagle statue as a centerpiece of the Legendary Langkawi and is the largest in the world.


  • Craft Cultural Complex This magnificient complex offers a wide range of Malaysian handicrafts including delicate hand-drawn Batik, intricately carved silverware, latest design of Malaysian potteries, etc.


  • Langkawi Crystal Fascinated by the art of crystal-making on an island of Venice, two Malaysians established Langkawi Crystal and over time, what began as a humble glass-blowing house has grown into a highly reputable crystalware production centre. Langkawii Crystaal's pieces are sought after for their unique design and uncompromising quality. Shunning the mass production molds of many European producers, each item is handcrafted, giving an exciting free form appearance rarely encountered in crystal ware.


  • Laman Padi This Padi museum offers an insight into the many activities and implementations involved in the cultivation of Padi. Visitors will find the Padi related exhibits and a roof-top garden with Padi. There are charts, photographs and artifacts in the museum.


  • Lagenda Park All the famous legends of Langkawi are portrayed within this picturesque park. Visitors will get the opportunity to learn more about the famous legends and myths of Langkawi.


  • Summer Palace Langkawi Thai-style summer palace constructed for the movie 'Anna & The King. They filmed much of the movie on Langkawi and many of the scenes at this location.


  • Oriental Village This village is the most unique shopping and Langkawi’s cultural and culinary centre and was specially designed for visitors as a one stop centre for duty-free shopping and themed restaurants. With over 550 brands and 20,000 products, the village offers shopping buffs a bewildering range of international designer labels and local products.


  • Langkawi Yatch Club The island's perfect setting for the region's maritime activities, the Langkawi Yacht Club provides a great meeting place for yachters and boat owners. The Club has a unique and beautiful clubhouse designed by a renowned Malaysian architect, and a fabulous marina that can accommodate a variety of vessels including mega-yachts. The Club provides guided tours for guests, and its waterfront restaurant, "Charlie's Place", named after the owner of the club, Prince Abdullah. The sunset cruise of Langkawi is very famous among visitors.


  • Payar Island Marine Park The island is the most popular island among visitors and had been declared as a marine park by Langkawi authority. Taking a ride with glass-bottomed boats will offer the visitors a glimpse of the marine lives of Pulau Payar.


  • Mangrove Trail Mangrove trail of Sungai Kilim offers some truly unforgettable sights and experiences. This mangrove trail features a beautiful mix of well-protected mangrove forests. On the trail, along the calm winding river, visitors will be exposed to the wonders of the park’s flora and fauna and its natural habitats like the Brown Eagles, Tree Crabs, Iguanas and Macaques.


  • Island of Pregnant Maiden Legend has it that a childless couple drank the fresh waters of the lake and had a baby girl.


  • Langkawi Cable Car The cable car ride will take the visitors to Langkawi’s second highest peak where the view of the island is spectacular. The one hour cable car ride can be highly exhilarating and there are great views of the flora and fauna and glimpses of the wildlife.


  • Duty Free Island Langkawi Island is a duty free island and visitors should not miss this opportunity to grab the branded goods and other local products. A 24 hour rule applies where an overnight stay is necessary in order to enjoy the tax exemption.


  • Bujang Valley Bujang Valley was a scene of a thriving Hindu-Buddist civilisation dating th the 5th century AD. It was part of the Sriwijaya Empire of Sumatra in the 7th century AD. Over 50 archaeological sites containing the ruins of Hindu and Buddist temples have been found. The ruins were first excavated by British archaeologist Quatrich-Wales in 1936. The Lembah Bujang Archaelogical Museum displays some Chinese, Indian and Middle East pottery shards, ceramics, stoneware, gemstone dating back 1,500 years. The most exciting finds are the 600 year old chandis which was unearthed in 1997 including the prominent 1,000 year old Candi Bukit Batu Pahat.
